The newly formed City County Drug Task Force made its first arrest today in the Enfield area.
Agents seized approximately $750 worth of crack cocaine, about 15.9 grams, following a vehicle chase shortly before 2:30 p.m.
Captain Anzell Harris said agents D.C. Dickens and C.L. Dixon were patrolling the area of Southeast Railroad Street near Burnette Avenue when they tried to stop a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation, the driver reportedly refusing to stop.
During a chase the vehicle stopped and the driver, identified as Raheem Deron Cooper, 21, of Enfield, got out and ran, Dickens and Dixon chasing him on foot over two blocks.
The agents seized a bag of crack cocaine, currency and several items of paraphernalia that included a clear plastic bag.
Dickens arrested and charged Cooper with felony speeding to elude arrest; driving while license revoked; felony possession of cocaine; possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine; possession of drug paraphernalia; maintaining a vehicle, place or dwelling for a controlled substance; possess marijuana up to a half-ounce and resisting a public officer.
Cooper was jailed on $100,000 bond and given a February 25 court date.
