Jvon Martin is now wanted in a second armed robbery and Roanoke Rapids police are investigating to determine whether he could be tied to a larceny that occurred this morning.
The robbery where Detective Frankie Griffin linked him as the reputed perpetrator occurred Tuesday night at 7:30 on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.
Chief Chuck Hasty said Officer Joey Spragins learned a victim picked up a person in Weldon to give him a ride. Once the victim got to Roanoke Rapids the man riding with him brandished a handgun and asked for money.
The victim complied and the person later identified as Martin took his car, a beige Toyota Corolla.
Griffin said the car was found abandoned in Weldon this morning but declined to give further details.
Griffin obtained warrants on Martin for robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Martin is also wanted on other warrants from a matter Sunday night, where he broken into an apartment and fired shots inside.
He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Meanwhile, around 12:45 this morning, police responded to New Dixie Mart on Highway 125 for a larceny.
Sergeant Terrence Tyler went to the store to investigate and learned the suspect came to the counter with some beer and asked for a carton of cigarettes and then walked out of the store.
The suspect told the employee as he was walking out if the police were called he would shoot them.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male about 5-feet, 7-inches tall with thick facial hair and wearing a black coat.
The suspect left on a small gold colored car heading in the direction of Halifax on Highway 125.
