A faith-based adventure group forming in the area has received three buildings for use through a donation.

The buildings, according to organizer and Trail Life USA Troop Master Scott Joyner, are located at 7 East Second Street across from Second Street Lunch.

Troop Committee Chairman Joe Long said when remodeling plans are complete there will be multiple meeting rooms, a kitchen, office and chapel. Plans will also leave room for adequate storage space and three bathrooms. “We are very excited that these buildings have been given to us and look forward to the transformation that is coming to turn these into great meeting spaces for the community and these programs.”

The first scheduled meeting will be January 6 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Joyner said mailings indicate at least 20 to 30 children, if not more, interested in Trail Life USA and American Heritage Girls are expected to attend that meeting.

Said Long: “Parents are invited to attend with their youth and will get a chance to look at the new facilities and hear about the plans for renovation. The programs are designed to teach youth life skills, learn about character and leadership, and to have lots of outdoor adventure.”

Anyone interested in joining can come to the first meeting or call Joyner at 252-536-9280 or Long at 252-586-7471.
