
The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:
May 15
Around 5:30 p.m., Sergeant Mike Moseley responded to a disturbance call in the 800 block of East Ninth Street.
The suspect already left when the sergeant arrived.
Moseley gave a description of the vehicle and that Lance Christopher Allen, 25, of Garysburg, had an outstanding order for his arrest.
Officer Jeffrey Mason spotted the vehicle on Seventh Street and conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Park Avenue, where Allen was arrested on the outstanding order for arrest for a probation violation.
Mason also charged Allen with resist, delay and obstruct an officer for giving a false name.
Allen was given a $3,000 bond and a June 12 court date.
Lieutenants Perry Parks and Charles Vaught and Officer Greg Colson assisted.
Around 11:15 p.m., Officer Jamie Hardy responded to call about drinking in a parking lot off Jesselynn Drive.
Hardy encountered Travis D. Harrell, 25, of Roanoke Rapids, who allegedly threw something on the ground.
When Hardy recovered the item, he discovered it was a baggie with approximately 8 grams of cocaine inside.
Hardy arrested and charged Harrell with possession of schedule II and possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II.
Harrell was given a $4,000 bond and a June 19 court date.
Officer Patrick Smith assisted.
May 16
Around 10:15 a.m., Master Officer Gorton Williams conducted a traffic stop on Vine Street.
The driver, Arnold Reives Jr., 35, of Franklin, Virginia, was arrested and charged with no operators license, speeding 40 in a 25 and resist, delay and obstruct an officer for using his brother's name during the stop.
Reives was given a $1,000 bond and a June 8 court date.
Mason assisted in this stop.
May 17
Around 4:15 p.m., Williams conducted a traffic stop on Smith Church Road.
The driver, Devin Charles Williams, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged with no operator’s license, speeding 80 in a 25, aggressive driving and no insurance.
Devin Williams was given a $500 bond and a June 8 court date.
Around 4:30 p.m., Mason responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention said Lakita Monee Odom, 26, of Seaboard, had allegedly taken items from the store and left.
Moseley located Odom on Wheeler Street after getting a description.
Mason cited Odom for larceny and possession of stolen goods,
She was released until her July 10 court date.
Around 5 p.m., Officer Adam Salmon and Colson investigated a call about a person exposing himself at Emry Park.
After speaking with several park patrons, they located Aaron Skyler Riggan, 20, of Roanoke Rapids, who was still in the park.
Colson arrested and charged Riggan with indecent exposure.
During a search after his arrest, a marijuana pipe was discovered.
Riggan was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and given a $2,000 bond. He awaits a July 19 court date.
May 18
Around 5:30 p.m., a concerned neighbor called to report that two people had removed a lawn mower from a yard and walked away in the 1300 block of Jefferson Street.
The neighbor gave a description of the two individuals and their direction of travel.
Master Officer Gerald Morris and Officer Ryan Cross responded to the area.
Joshua Wayne Turner, 21, and Kenneth Wayne Turner, 44, both of Roanoke Rapids, were located at their residence, along with the lawn mower.
Morris arrested and charged both with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
Joshua Turner was given a $1,500 bond and Kenneth Turner was given a $1,000 bond.
They both have July 31 court dates.
Britney Marie Shaw, 22, of Roanoke Rapids, was also arrested during this investigation for resist, delay and obstruct an officer for allegedly lying during the investigation.
Shaw, who was out on bond on previous charges, was given a $20,000 bond and a July 30 court date. Lieutenant Jeff Baggett, Sergeant Richard White, Smith and Hardy assisted.
