
The continued Operation Bullseye street-level drug dealer campaign across Halifax County resulted arrests in Weldon and Roanoke Rapids this week.
The three arrests, according to Chief Chuck Hasty of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, stem from investigations by City County Drug Task Force Captain A.M. Harris and Agent D.R. Radford.
The controlled purchases in the aftermath of these investigations were made at the Carolina Inn on Jackson Street in Roanoke Rapids, East Eleventh Street, commonly called The Strip and Beech Court, both in Weldon.
The ongoing operation is one to target street-level dealers across the county and more arrests are pending.
Arrested this week were:
Roy Purnell Shearin, 48, of Roanoke Avenue, for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, sell marijuana, and deliver marijuana.
Shearin was given an $8,000 secured bond and confined to the Halifax County Detention Center.
Terence Andre Peterson, 36, of Sycamore Street for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, sell marijuana, and deliver marijuana.
While processing Peterson, a small user amount of marijuana fell from his pants leg.
Task force Lieutenant H.G. Phillips cited Peterson with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possessing less than a half-ounce of marijuana. Peterson was given a $5,000 bond.
Anthony Devon Bennett, 29, of Ransome Circle, for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, sell marijuana, and deliver marijuana.
Bennett was given a $5,000 bond and confined to the Halifax County Detention Center.
The three have July 22 court dates.
