Matt Whitehead of Scotland Neck had the winning, $2,000 duck, in today's Ducky Derby at River Falls Park in Weldon.
He bought the winning duck at Bay Sire in Jackson.
Allen Purser, president and CEO of the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the annual event, said there was near-record attendance at the event.
