A man faces 100 counts of obtaining property by false pretense based on an investigation in which a stolen credit card was used to make fuel purchases in the Roanoke Rapids and Weldon areas.

Detective B.C. Griffin of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said Joshua Dwayne Williams, 28, of Roanoke Rapids reportedly used the card from August through September.

Griffin said the 100 counts reflect the number of times the card was used. Investigation shows approximately $3,500 worth of fuel was purchased at multiple businesses.

Williams was familiar with the victim and the owner of the card alerted law enforcement when the abnormal amount of charges were noticed on the statements.

He surrendered to the sheriff's office on September 17 and is awaiting a first court appearance.
