
The Northampton County Sheriff's Office reported the following, according to Captain M.D. DeLoatch Sr.:
On December 5 deputies responded to Griffin Road in Lasker to a farming mishap.
Deputies learned 53-year-old Gwendolyn Newsome was painting numbers on a cotton module when the driver of a cotton loader began backing up.
Newsome was pinned between the truck and the cotton module and later died from her injuries.
No charges were filed against the driver.
On December 6 Cedric Terell Jenkins, 27, of Ahoskie, was arrested on warrants from Franklin, Virginia, for two counts of felony grand larceny.
Warrants were also served on Jenkins out of Greenville for misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor conspiracy.
