Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp reported another scam attempt, this one purporting to be from Publisher's Clearinghouse.
As in two scams reported earlier this week, no one was taken.
The recipient of the phone call was told they won $1 million and a Mercedes.
The requirement to receive the prizes was a check needed to be sent.
“Most likely if it's requested to send money to receive money, it's a scam,” the sheriff said.
