Valerie Asbell, the Judicial District 6B district attorney, filed today to run against Halifax County DA Melissa Pelfrey in the newly created Judicial District 6 in the May 6 primary.
Asbell resides in Ahoskie.
In other filing news, Tyus Few, an incumbent member of the Halifax County Schools Board of Education, filed to retain his seat.
The county board of elections also reported that Pattie Cotton and Timothy Green have filed to retain their seats on the Weldon City Schools Board of Education, although that race will not be held until November.
