Tyquan Powell, wanted in the murder of a potential state's witness last month, was captured in Charlotte this morning, a TV station there reports.
WBTV reported, quoting Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, Powell barricaded himself inside a home and refused to come out or obey orders.
The TV station further reported SWAT officers were called to the scene and entered the home around 3:15 a.m., taking Powell into custody.
Powell, along with Lamont Lloyd, was wanted in the murder January 26 murder of Jimmy R. Daniels.
Daniels was a potential state's witness in a case where a mistrial was declared in October.
The mistrial declared in the Jimmel Horton case was done so because of a conflict of interest between Sammy Webb, who represented Horton, and his law partner, Jamaal Summey, who represented Daniels. The state planned to call Daniels as a witness in Horton's trial.
Powell is from Charlotte but has family in Scotland Neck.
Scotland Neck Police Chief John Tippett could not immediately be reached for comment this morning.
