Cortez Sesson, who was wanted on marijuana counts following a Monday raid and has a pending court date on cocaine trafficking charges, was arrested today by agents of the City County Drug Task Force.
Captain Anzell Harris of the task force said in a statement Sesson was arrested around 3:15 p.m. in the area of Happy Drive in the P&J Trailer Court area off Highway 48 outside Roanoke Rapids.
Agents J. Matthews, C. Parker and D. Hundley arrested the 24-year-old Roanoke Rapids man after Matthews had been in contact with state community corrections.
He was issued an order for arrest for a probation violation due to the trafficking counts, Monday’s raid and weapon violations.
He was jailed on $5,000 cash bond and has a December 5 court date.
Sheriff’s office arrest
Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement a Roanoke Rapids woman was arrested Monday on charges related to a money order theft.
The crime was reported in August and Deputy W.A. Smith responded to a Carolina Rest Home Road residence.
Through investigation, Detective R.B. Biggerstaff determined the $400 money order was passed at an undisclosed business in Roanoke Rapids.
Biggerstaff arrested Tonya Jefferson, 44, and charged her with obtaining property by false pretense and possession of stolen goods.
Jefferson posted a $1,000 bond and received a November 30 court date.
