
Heroin trafficking charges were lodged against one Roanoke Rapids man Tuesday night and another was charged with its possession, the City County Drug Task Force reported.
Task force Captain A.M. Harris said in a statement Agent D.W. McKeel arrested and charged Diandre Ireland, 27, for trafficking heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, possess heroin, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possess marijuana up to one-half ounce, possesses marijuana paraphernalia, possess drug paraphernalia and resisting a public officer.
Ireland was arrested following a raid which occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Smith Street, located off Davie School Road.
The raid was in response to drug complaints in the area and investigation by McKeel, Harris said.
The task force executed a search warrant with assistance from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Hazardous Entry and Arrest Team.
Agents, with assistance from Corporal J. Bozard and his dog Fino of the sheriff’s office, seized approximately 11.1 grams of heroin, marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia, which included a digital scale and a marijuana grinder.
Mckeel also arrested and charged Deontrae Harvey, 27, for felony possession of three bindles of heroin, possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance.
Ireland received a $50,000 bond and Harvey a $30,000 bond.
Both have February 15 court dates.
