The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking a man in a case Saturday where Chief Chuck Hasty said deception and distraction was used to obtain $100.
Hasty declined to immediately elaborate on the scheme, only that it involved trickery.
In a statement the chief said the police department needs the public’s help in identifying the man, who is the subject of an obtaining property by false pretense case, which occurred shortly before 10:45 a.m. at an undisclosed business.
The man left the area in what appeared to be an older model Ford Explorer.
Anyone with information on the identification of this person is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
The public may also contact Investigator Gorton Williams at 252-533-2821; the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
