The National Weather Service says snow should be tapering off by late this afternoon or early this evening.
In the wake of the storm dry, but extremely cold, conditions will follow, the NWS said in its latest briefing today.

Another inch of snow or so could fall where the more persistent bands set up.
The very cold temperatures are expected through tonight and early next week.

High temperatures will struggle to reach freezing Sunday and Monday and will begin falling into the teens tonight and single digits Sunday and teens again on Monday.
Hazardous travel conditions will continue in most areas through the weekend and early next week where the snow accumulated.
Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty said, “Tonight when the temperatures go down, the roads are going to be frozen. Stay in.”
The NWS said scattered areas of black ice will likely be a problem during the night into the morning hours through Tuesday.
