A Roanoke Rapids man was charged Thursday with several sex offenses against a 13-year-old child.
The charges against Edward Victor Jones, 38, 615 W. 5th Street, stem from an investigation by Detective Corey Dixon that began last month after a family member reported them to Roanoke Rapids police.
The charges reflect alleged sexual contact with the child that occurred between September 2011 and and April 2012, Captain Andy Jackson said.
Jones faces two counts of statutory rape, one count of second-degree rape and two counts of sex offense.
Jones was jailed on $700,000 bond and has a January 8 court date.
