It must be the shoes.
People were already lining up at Hibbett Sports off Premier Boulevard Thursday night to buy a ticket this morning that will allow them to buy the Nike Air Jordan 11 Retro Gamma shoe on their Saturday release date.
As of this report some 30 to 40 people were lined up and bundled up waiting for the store to open this morning. One woman sat on the sidewalk eating pizza.
They lined up, George Arrington of Roanoke Rapids, said, “Because they only sell so few. A ticket equals a shoe.”
The shoes from the Nike Insider blog.
Arrington said he has bought every release of the shoe, which retails for $185.
“I want them for Christmas,” said Rekita Hill of Halifax, a Jordan and UNC fan. She said they will be a Christmas present for herself.
Alex Hopkins drove from Littleton to wait for the store to open. Others sat in cars in the parking lot.
“It's for the love of the J's,” he said.
They will not be everyday shoes, he said. “You wear them to dress and impress.”
