The man Roanoke Rapids police charged with obstructing officers Thursday night was out on bond and awaiting a court date stemming from a drive-by shooting in Garysburg last year.
Garysburg Police Chief Melvin Garner said 18-year-old Wilson Dominique Green allegedly opened fire into a crowd of people gathered at Turner's Store at Highway 301 and Kee Street. One person was shot, prompting an attempted murder charge.
Green, of Weldon, was arrested Thursday night by Roanoke Rapids police for resist, delay and obstruct following a disturbance call at 201 Old Farm Road. Because of the attempted murder charge, he was given a $128,000 bond.
