Two minor wrecks were reported this morning by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department due to poor visibility from a glaring morning sun.
Master Officer Roy Ball said no charges are expected to filed.
In one, a child sustained minor injuries after being hit by a Halifax County Sheriff's Office patrol car.
The child was waiting for a school bus this morning around 7 at Eleventh and Cleveland streets, Ball said.
The deputy slowed because of the glaring sun as the child was standing on the side of the road when hit. Speed was not a factor as the deputy had slowed due to the poor visibility.
Ball said motorists coming up on the scene had trouble seeing, even with blue lights and emergency lights activated by first responders.
Another wreck due to poor visibility was reported on Fifth Street when a forklift was struck, he said.
