Halifax County Sheriff's Office narcotics agents seized more than 14 grams of heroin, enough to file trafficking charges, at a residence on Brooks Road in the Scotland Neck area.

The raid, which occurred just before 9:30 a.m., netted 35 bindles and a bag of powdered heroin, Lieutenant Harold Phillips said.

Bindles are user amounts of heroin packaged in paper similar to what BC Powder comes in, Phillips said. They typically sell for $20 a bindle.

The raid, the result of a sustained investigation by Agent D.C. Dickens and citizen complaints, resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old Shaiquon Quadir Tune, of Brooks Road, which is located off Highway 903 on the outskirts of Scotland Neck.

The raid also netted the confiscation of digital scales, Mason jars containing marijuana residue and 5-gallon buckets containing marijuana residue, Phillips said. Agents seized a .38-caliber handgun.

Phillips described Tune as an alleged low to mid-level dealer of heroin in the Scotland Neck area.

The raid, done with assistance from the sheriff's office's Hazardous Entry and Arrest Team, resulted in the arrest of Tune on charges of trafficking heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, maintaining a place to sell a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tune received a $50,000 secured bond and a December 3 court date.

Phillips said residents may call Crimestoppers at 252-583-444 with information on drug activity.
