A Murfreesboro man is scheduled to appear in Northampton County District Court in March to answer to charges filed against him in an assault case.
Laquan Jamar Tann, according to a statement by Lieutenant Courtney Williams of the Northampton County Sheriff's Office, faces charges of felony assault by strangulation, assault on a female, communicating threats and interfere with emergency communications.
The charges stem from a February 1 argument investigated by Sergeant Alan Roye in which the victim alleges Tann punched her in the face and choked her.
Tann left the area before law enforcement arrived but later returned to the scene.
At the time he received a $7,500 secured bond and was given an initial court date of February 3. He is scheduled to appear in court again on March 14, according to state court records.
Sheriff Jack Smith in the statement lauded Roye for his effort in investigating the case.
